Friday Photo Shootout "Outdoor Foods"

In FSO-Friday Shoot Outs, Simply Joyful Photos Blog Imported on July 31, 2009 at 1:19 pm
I wasn’t too sure what I’d find for outdoor food this week. We’ve been reconstructing our house. I really haven’t been out and about for photo hunting. There hasn’t been much time for it, except for yesterday. We went to the County Field Days. Seven hours of fun, food and watching the smash-up derby. It wasn’t until I’d finished my dinner that I remembered it was Thursday already, without any shootout photos – so I whipped out Canon and commenced to snapping. I didn’t grab too many…sorry but the family fun part was the main attraction 🙂

Days of Demolition

In Adventures, Just Rambles, Other Stuff on July 30, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Not much time or patience for writing, so I thought I’d alteast share the process of our week. Ray’s on vacation until next Monday morning. The boys have been very good and patient, waiting for us to do something a little more “vacation-y”. Today, they are showing the signs of needing attention.

Later today, we’ll most likely spend freedom out and about…but until then, they just have to spend a little more time outside playing together. They’ve had full days of play, with the neighbors grandkids. They’ve been well amused…but today…oh, today. Okay, I’m through with trying to write. Here are the photos:

Beyond the Door

In Doors, J.R.R. Tolkien, Proverbs, Simply Joyful Photos Blog Imported on July 30, 2009 at 1:28 pm
The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can,
pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way
where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

J.R.R. Tolkien

Open The Door

There is surely a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off.

Wordless Wednesday-Bloggers Choice Zebra Muscles: Pretty. Harmful.

In My Wordless Wednesdays, Simply Joyful Photos Blog Imported on July 28, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Welcome back to Wordless Wednesday, friends. I’m not going to say a word about mine, but just have to share with you all – how very much I appreciate each of you and the support you’ve shown me from the beginning. When I first found Wordless Wednesday’s happening over at Dixie’s, I just had to take part. It’s a fun way to share a story without the use of words. So, just a simple thank you from me today and a little something I’ve put together for today…..

Each Day is New

Today a new sun rises for me; everything lives,
everything is animated, everything seems to speak to me of my passion,
everything invites me to cherish it.

Meet One Strange Bird (no, it’s not me). HA!

In Just Rambles, My Photos on July 28, 2009 at 12:54 am
Yesterday morning, I was out on the front porch exerting some energy on my exercise bicycle, listening to some worship music on my MP3. My eyes were closed and I was moving…

Turkey Buzzard Drying Out

I suddenly felt compelled to open my eyes up and look into the field. When I did, there he was. I wasn’t sure what “he” was and also wasn’t sure whether or not he was hurt. I kept doing my thing but keeping my eyes on him. His stance was strong and at that point, he didn’t move much, only his wings a little.

I grabbed Ray’s binoculars, which happened to be on the bench right beside me. Looking through them (it’s not easy…always taking a second for my eyes to focus properly), I saw this huge bird with his wings in a wide array….just sitting on the fence post. I wondered if he was caught in the wire somehow, so I went inside to get Ray (and my camera – of course).

Turkey Buzzard

I took a few pictures of him while Ray explained that he was fine. Apparently, after flying in the rain – their wings get heavy and they sit for awhile, hoping to dry them off. The trouble was that it was taking a little longer than he probably hoped…there was no wind, no sunshine and a little bit of a sprinkle. He sat out there on that post for quite a long time, and I took a bunch of photos as he would spin in circles v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, lifting a wing and slowly putting it down – then lifting another and slowyly putting that one down…and then both wings and slowly put them down. Can you get the picture? It was definitely entertaining for me to watch him. I finally made my way back in the house, made some breakfast, showered and we all got ready to leave…in search of a woodstove for this winter’s heating. The turkey buzzard still sat on his post, in hope of drying off.

Pretty neat, huh?

(oh, yeah…and because he was at such a distance, I had to edit the photos just a little to get better detail of him)

Mosaic Monday: From the Water’s Edge

In Mosaic Mondays, My Children, Simply Joyful Photos Blog Imported, Sri Guru Granth Sahib on July 27, 2009 at 11:22 am

On The Edge of the Water

Happiness is obtained, and sorrow runs far away,
when the Saints chant the Lord’s Name.
The sea, the dry land, and the lakes are filled with
the Water of the Lord’s Name; no place is left empty.

On This Day, Twelve Years Ago….

In My Man and I, My Memories, My Photos on July 26, 2009 at 12:04 pm

We just watched our Wedding & Reception Video this morning, with the boys. Priceless was the look on my oldest son’s face as he watched it. I want to capture it on my camera (video) so that I am able to upload it onto my computer. You know, there will most likely be a day that we won’t be able to view it on VHS and we definitely want to keep that day in history alive 🙂

Looking back through the years, Ray and I haven’t really changed a lot in our relationship with one another. Neither of us went into our marriage with Rose Colored Glasses, our friendship remains, our tolerance has grown and the love that binds us together will not be removed because our marriage is held together by the strength of Three-In-One Unity :).

This coming week, Ray is on vacation. We have a week of demolition in store for us, so I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to sit and write…but don’t you think I won’t be peeking in every day and offering a tad bit here and there. What are we demolishing, you wonder? Well…it’s time to break down the walls and put in the wood stove (the one we haven’t found yet).

I will, however, share with you the plans…the thoughts…the story of this day…on another day. Today, I shall focus my attention on my husband and family :).

New Inspiring Idea from an Artsy Blogger

In other bloggers on July 26, 2009 at 12:06 am

I just peeked in to a new blog that I found by way of Pictures, Poetry & Prose. I’m inspired to have found Aurora’s Foxy Art Studio and her latest posting of a sketch journal that was mailed throughout a group of friends. They shared their thoughts and a bit of their art within it and throughout a course of time, it was returned to her. The last friend to have had it, left space for her own treasured thoughts and artwork. You’ll have to see it to really get an idea about it.

What a grand idea, don’t you think? Such a treasure to keep.

Eternally, He Listens

In Mahatma Gandhi, Prayer, Romans, Simply Joyful Photos Blog Imported on July 25, 2009 at 10:00 pm
Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul.
It is daily admission of one’s weakness.
It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.

Mahatma Gandhi quotes

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
